Chipman Cultural Center </strong> and the <strong>Chipman Foundation</strong> of Salisbury, Maryland.<br /><br />For those of you unfamiliar with the <strong>Charles H. Chipman Cultural Center</strong> and the <strong>Chipman Foundation</strong>, we are located in <strong>Salisbury, Maryland</strong> on the Maryland Eastern Shore. The Chipman Cultural Center is an historic landmark, a former African American church dating to <strong>1837</strong> when five local freedmen purchased property and built a structure for use as a church, school and meeting place. Formerly known as the John Wesley Methodist Episcopal Church, the building is now a cultural center and small museum honoring the history of African Americans of the Eastern Shore regional area. Open in <strong>1994</strong>, the Chipman Cultural Center serves its community and its environs.
